Worldwar 1975 Global Situation of Earth (Tosev 3)

Worldwar - Change of the Balance - 1975

It is the year 1975, which marks the 32nd year of the invasion of Earth by the species simply known as 'The Race'. They invaded Earth, or Tosev 3 as the planet was known to them, in 1943 expecting the inhabitants to not have developed beyond the stage of when a probe was sent to Earth during the middle ages.

But to their surprise the people of this planet developed exponentionally fast. When they arived in 1943 the entire planet was engulfed in a global conflict, no nation was spared, every nation was part of the conflict in one way or the other. Yet even though the technology was primitive compared to the highly advanced tech of the Race, it was far beyond anything the Race has anticipated. They only assumed that when they arrived that the inhabitants would still be at a pre-gunpowder state of technology, not possessing armored vehicles and fighter aircrafts.

Yet, despite the fact that their carefull planning had been smashed by the fact that the situation was totally different than anticipated, the military leader, Fleetlord Atvar, decided to proceed with the invasion. They used several large nukes in the higher atmosphere, hoping to destroy the communication devices of the waring factions (which failed because the technology was less developed than thought) and then launch a full scale invasion of every continent.

In Europe landings occured in Poland, souther France, Spain, Italy, the Balkans as well as several spots within the USSR. In North America the Race landed along the Mississippi river, cutting the USA into half. Latin-America, Africa and large parts of Asia and Australia fell to the Race within not even a week. Only smaller holdout in some cities and isolated parts were able to resist, like in northen Tunisia, Morroco and around Alexandria in Egypt where the Allied Forces where cut off from their supplies, trying to hold the alien invaders back as best as the could.

Other holdouts were Ceylon, Kalkutta, Bombay, the Himalayans, the jungles of Burma, French Indochina (under Japanese occupation still though) as well as large parts of Indonesia and South Wester Australia and New Zeeland. In China, communist and nationalist forces of Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek were forced to fight together against the Race, even allying themselves with cut-off Japanese forces.

In Europe the only real power to fight the alien invaders was Nazi-Germany, even though with vast parts of their army cut off from Germany itself by the Race forces in Poland, they manage to put up a heavy fight.

As the fighting keeps going on for a week, to the shock of the Race nearly 250 000 males of the invasion force worldwide have been killed, half of them on the frontlines, but the other half in the occupation zones, a behavior totally unknown to the Race. They expected the locals to accept their rule as soon as they established themselves as their new ruler, but the Tosevites (humans) kept resisting, killing many patroling males with guns, improvised bombs or sometimes even knifes. Also many communities where the Race has only been briefly to declare that hey are the new rulers, the inhabitants did not accept this new rule, since there were no enemy soldiers in their city to enforce the new rule, another totally unknown behavior to the Race. To them it was like this: If conquerers came to a city and conquered it, it stayed conquered for all times, even when the soldiers would leave. But that was not the way it is on Earth.

To end the fighting Fleetlord Atvar ordered the destruction of the capitals of the most powerfull political entities on the planet, which were Berlin and Washington DC. He exptected the Tosevites to surrender nearly immediately when they would see their power. But the exact opposite happened. Instead of surrendereing and submitting to them, the destruction of the centers of these cities even fueled the fighting spirit of the Tosevites, fighting more aggressively. Again a totally unknown behavior to the Race.

But even despite these totally unknown behavior of the Tosevites, the Race kept on winning battle after battle, even though it was 1000 times more costly than the previous two conquests. At this time the several important leaders of the various human factions met outside of London to discuss the formation of a new alliance which would develope new technologies and share them to prevent the entire world from falling to the Race.

But the meeting was interrupted by a sudden detonation just outside the building. When the military and political leaders of the UK, Free France, Germany, the USA and the USSR examined what caused the explosion they found something unexptected.

Outside there was a large metallic plattform, carring nince huge metal boxes stacked up in piles of three, surrounding a metalic cockpit. Moments after they walked towards the plattform the cockpic opened and a person of humanoid shape appeared. One of the soldiers protecting the politicians accidentally opened fire, which caused all the other soldiers to open fire as well.

But the person was unharmed, the projectiles were held back by some sort of magnetic force field that prevented them from hitting him. Moments later the person opened his helmet and greeted the human in a friendly manner, despite just being shot at. He introduced himself as the as Colonel Walter Davis, member of the Armed Forces of the Sol Confederacy of a parallel universe.

In this universe they have developed a technology that allows them to not only watch other parallel universes but also travel to them. He was sent to this universe to help them gain the upper hand against the Race. Such help was meant to make this Earth join their interdimensional coalition later, instead of possibly developing their own inter-dimensional-tech which htey could use in a hostile way. It also was a way to thank them because the knowledge from this universe helped them to discover the conquest fleet in their own universe, which had only started 200 years later compared to this universe.

Colonel Davis brough with him 9 so called nano-assemblers which could produce pretty much anything as long as the raw elements were provided. Only WMDs were excempt from this, which turned out to be a major flaw, because for some reason the egg-heads in Colonel Davis' universe did not thought about using high-altitude bombing (detonating nukes in the higher atmosphere) to use the EMP against them. Since human tech of the 40s would not be affected, while the Race tech would be useless, NEMPs would be best for this. But somehow they forgot about this. The Colonel also would hack himself into the Race systems to shut of several systems, like Long-Range-Missiles or their nuclear arsenal, so these would be useless for the Race, but he couldn't deactivate their landcruisers (tanks) and killercrafts (fighter jets) since they were not connected to the Race system.

As a first step to fight the Race, the Colonel used a wrist mounted-mounted device that gives him various abilities, like teleportation, the force-field to protect him, as well be used as a translation device by changing soundwaves, mass-energy conversion, which means storing mass inside some sort of battery. This way the colonel would for example suck dry deposits of certain metals which would then be used for the nano-assemblers. The only flaw the nano assemblers had that they could only produce things that were about 15 to 18 years ahead, other things like tech from the 90s and beyond the turn of the millenia were impossible, since the universe seemed to know when something should exist and when not. If they would try to assemble something beyond this spedific date, the objects would just disolve into their molecules.

Later the Colonel would use his teleportation device to bring great amounts of small fire arms, explosives like grenades and RPGs. This way resistance fighters around the world could fight the Race much more effectively.

Finally, after nearly half a year of fighting, using various new technolgies, like jetpacks for the French Foreign League, a very primitive battle walker (though the energy still had to be supplied by the wrist mounted device of the Colonel) and other things, the tide began to turn. But the Colonel was also up for a surprise since he did not give the AIs of the nano assemblers an unclear order, so the various human factions were able to download and print out blueprints of technologies that were beyond their current knowledge and industrial capability to speed up their own technological progress.

Then, after the operation 'Armageddon', the global EMP that engulfed much of the frontlines around the world, the forces of the United Nations of Planet Earth overwhelmed the Race, pushing them back further and further. And they would have probably succeded in defeating them totally, if the Race wouldn't have been able by coincidence to find the virus in their computing systems of their explosive metal bombs (nukes) which disabled them. By simply changing the affected computer parts with spare parts and disconnecting them from their network, they could use them again, so human and Race forces were again evenly matched.

With the help of the Colonel they managed to settle a peace-treaty between all human factions and the Race. The planet would be divided among humans and the Race, the letter ones were allowed to keep all land being under their occupation at the time of the peace-talks, which luckily in many cases were barely inhabitated deserts or only minor settled areas, where the Race would was obliged by the peace treaty to help the human resettle some place else.

Now the year is 1975, over three decades since the invasion and more than a decade since the arrival of the colonial fleet when nearly 150 million members of the Race arrived on Earth to settle the newly built cities.

The world is vastly different to OTL, both in technological and political means.

This map here will give you a general overview of the global situation in the year 1975. Detailed maps fo the various continents will follow later.

The most important difference is that the formation of several new super-nations, most noteable are the United Stated of Africa, the Latin-American Union and the Arab League. Europe on the other hand is still divided among many, many nation-states, yet all of them, with the exception of the United Kingdom, are part of the European Defense League, even Switzerland has joined this alliance.

North America on the other hand has formed NATO, the North-American-Treaty-Organization. This started as a common defense pact between Canada, the USA and Mexico, which over time slowly evolved into a closer union until in 1980 is resembled OTL's EU of the year 2000. Also the USA has changed a bit, with loosing some territory in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona, yet they gained two new states, the Philippines and Pacific, the letter one being an accumulation of various Pacific islands all together having only slightly less inhabitants than Wyoming. (Sorry Puerto Rico, but you are still not a state)

The USSR lost the baltic nations, since this was part of the deal to get help from Colonel Davis.

China has become a close ally of the USA, since the communists never took power here, though Mao and his resistance fighters keeps being a headache to the Chinese government.

With the exception of the Empire of Nippon, all human nations are members of the United Nations of Planet Earth. Especially the US of Africa were hard to develope, since nearly all of Africa was colonized by European nations, though they had to give these colonies up too as the deal wtih Colonel Davis demanded.

The technological development was way faster than in OTL. The first human satelites were allready put into orbit by the USSR, Germany and the USA even while during the peace-treaty talks between humans and the Race (and also decolonization talks between Europeans and their colonies) in 1944. The first man in space was Ivan Kozhedub, fighter ace of the USSR, in 1949. The first man on the moon was German fighter ace Erich Hartmann nicknamed 'Bubi' from Germany in 1955 and the first man on Mars was Neil Armstrong in 1959. Those three nations are the leaders when it came to space technology, all of them having space-stations and moonbases, the US even has a smaller Mars-base. But other nations like Japan, China, Korea, the Arab League, Brazil and Australia have space-programms as well, but only China, Korea and Japan managed to bring men (and women too) into orbit, and only Japan managed to bring men (men only) to Luna and Mars.

Another technology that is ahead our time is the internet. North America and Europe have a shared information network in a stage we had in 1995, with most still in the hands of universities and some larger businesses, but privately owned internet connections are getting more and more common. Also cell-phones are allready a normal sight on the streets of rebuilt Berlin or Washington.

The world is also a much cleaner one (while in other cases a much dirtier one). When the Race arrived they not only brought high advanced computer technology, but also hightly developed Hydrogen-combustion engines. Today half of the world's cars are either powered by hydrogen or biofules of the fourth generation. Electricity in many nations is produced by nuclear powerplants, despite the meltdowns in Chernobyl in 1967, the double meltdown in Three Mile Island in 1970 or the release of nuclear vapour from a power station near Bonn,  Germany. All of this resulted in Climate change being a smaller issue than OTL, but it leaves the world also with huuuuge amounts of nuclear waste, which is the reason why NATO and the EDL (which at this point is slowly also developing into a more political union) have agreed on developing nuclear reactors that can use the nuclear waste as fuel to reduce the large piles of spent nuclear rods.

To prevent new alien species from spreading from the Race-habitation-zones, all, but the smallest zones, where the Race would not bother to replace the local flora and fauna with their own, were surrounded by enormous concrete walls, similar like the wall cutting off Jerusalem from the Palestinians OTL. 100 feet high, 20 feet deep and slick as glass on one side to make it impossible for any creature to crawl over or dig under. Also some nations like Australia or both USAs have automated flamethrower units to destroy any alien plants that might have started to grow on the wrong side of the wall by spreading their seeds with either birds or the wind.

Also militarily this world is ahead of us. With the Empire of Nippon (which is a bigger version of OTL's North Korea in this universe) developing weaponized lasers in 1963, the other nations developed their own energy-weapons-programms, and by 1975 all major super-powers posessed lasers and particle accelerators as weapons too, even the Race. Other newer developments are Mach 5 bombers and Mach 3 figher-jets used by all major powers.

For now the world has been mostly at peace. There have been several incidents though that nearly sparked new wars between human factions like the issue about the Falkland islans, which are still part of the UK, while the Latin-American Union see these islands as theirs. Other issues where about Jerusalem being the capital of the Arab League or not, the issue about Taiwan still being part of the Empire of  Nippon etc.

But who knows for how long this situation might last, with some nations obvisouly preparing for war.
